Streaming Documents and Images for Wireless Email
Technical White Paper
The past several years have seen modest growth in
enterprise wireless data applications. The benefits of
wireless email seem apparent to IT decision-makers, but
cost, management and security issues are preventing
deployment.
As a result, many users have taken matters into their
own hands, making purchase and technology decisions
outside of IT control. As costs decrease, security
issues get resolved and integration into the enterprise
infrastructure becomes easier, other usability and
performance issues will begin to arise. Approximately
25% of all emails include attachments, whether documents
or images. The ability to deliver, view, edit and manage
attachments will also become critical to the broad
adoption of wireless email.
In our research, most wireless email users stated that
they do not open attachments on their mobile devices,
but wait until they get home or to the office. They also
stated that the ability to view attachments quickly and
easily on mobile devices is increasing in importance,
and the ability to edit documents would add significant
value to their mobile email experience.
iseemedia’s document streaming technology provides a
better document viewing experience on the mobile device,
while decreasing load times, and providing better
bandwidth utilization. It facilitates better document
security and management and makes sharing documents with
others easier.
This document is intended to provide functional,
architectural and implementation information to CTOs,
Marketing Executives, CIOs, and any other executives for
whom a high level technical understanding of the
solution is required.
